• Describe the heterogeneity of the elderly population in defining individual treatment goals in diabetes.
• Utilize the American Geriatrics Society clinical guidelines for treating older adults with diabetes.
• Apply the standards of care in diabetes in the older adult.
• Use the mnemonic PLAGGUEE-FMM as a means to prioritize treatment.
• Identify the prevalence and causes of clinical inertia in initiating treatment in older adults with diabetes.
